COLOCATION SERVICES
Colocation Cages: Secure environments built to your requirements
Dedicated private cages in secure data centers we own and operate. Your equipment, your layout, our team on the floor around the clock.
INSIDE OUR FACILITIES
Your equipment, walled off from the rest of the floor
A colocation cage puts a physical perimeter around your gear, separate from every other tenant. Access is limited to the names on your list, which matters when auditors or your own security policy call for a documented boundary.
It also gives you room to work: space for spare parts, tools and staging gear a cabinet can’t hold. Need more capacity later? Add cabinets inside the same cage instead of hunting for space elsewhere in the facility.
Data Center LOCATIONS
Regional colocation facilities built for cage deployments
Strategic data center locations chosen for strong networks, stable power grids, and low natural disaster risk.
Boise, Idaho
BOI-1 and BOI-2 make up Idaho’s largest enterprise data center campus, with room to grow into a cage of any size and strong fiber connectivity.

St. George, Utah
100% facility uptime since 2008. A cage here sits on a power grid and network path separate from Boise, true geographic diversity for disaster recovery.

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
A hardened, severe-weather rated facility on central U.S. routes, recommissioned in 2024 with expanded capacity. OKC-1 is fully leased today.
Learn MoreNETWORK & CONNECTIVITY
Interconnection options for cage deployments
Connect your cage to the carrier of your choice, in-house blended Internet, or Megaport cloud on-ramps.
Carrier-neutral MMRs
Establish cross-connects to on-site carriers directly into your cage, no mandatory house network or preferred vendor. You control the architecture.
Learn MoreBlended IP transit
Two upstream carriers, BGP-based automatic failover, delivered straight to your cage and managed by our network team. Single connection. Single invoice.
Learn MoreCloud on-ramps
Cloud on-ramp access to AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud from your cage. Private paths mean lower egress and less exposure than the public internet.

PROVEN RELIABILITY
Reliability that extends to every rack in your private cage
Every cage sits on the same redundant power and cooling as the rest of the facility, N+1 generation, UPS, concurrently maintainable. Add racks inside your cage and each one inherits the same infrastructure, not a scaled-down version of it.
Private Cage Use Cases
Where a data center cage is the right answer
Physical separation for the workloads that require it, wherever your infrastructure sits.
Regulatory requirements
Financial services, healthcare and public sector workloads need dedicated space, controlled access and an audit trail your assessor can verify.
Custom configurations
Multi-rack deployments get contiguous space, unified power distribution and a cooling design built around your equipment, not the room.
Room to scale
Add racks inside your own perimeter as you grow. Expansion space is planned into the agreement, so growth never means a migration.
Site consolidation
Server rooms and enterprise data centers collapse into one managed footprint. One location, one access list, one team accountable for the space.
Security and privacy
Some hardware warrants separation by policy, regulator or client contract. A locked perimeter with logged entry keeps the access list short.
Disaster recovery
A DR site needs distance from production. A cage in a second facility gets you that separation without leasing a second open floor.
RELATED SERVICES

Colocation cabinets
Full rack cabinets for deployments that don’t need a dedicated perimeter, same power, cooling, and 24/7/365 team.

Run workloads on Valor Cloud instead of racking more physical servers, or scale into it when your cage runs out of room.
Learn MoreCUSTOMER STORY
A drilling company that’s operated since 1890 needed one thing their old provider couldn’t guarantee: a locked perimeter around their gear.
Boart Longyear runs mining and drilling operations worldwide, the kind of footprint where a shared, open floor wasn’t going to cut it for their security and compliance needs. They needed dedicated, access-controlled space, not just a rack in someone else’s room.
Since 2017, Boart has operated private cages in two ValorC3 facilities: St. George and, as of 2025, Boise. Each cage sits on its own grid, giving them the physical separation a single shared facility couldn’t offer.
“They’re not just there to push a product and get more money. They’re an engaged, hands-on advisor who cares about our success.” — Data Center Operations Manager, Boart Longyear

What buyers ask when evaluating data centers and colocation options
What is a private cage in a data center?
A private cage is a secured, mesh-enclosed section of the data hall reserved for one customer. It sits between individual cabinets and a fully walled suite, more separation than shared cabinet space, less than a dedicated room. Everything inside the cage, cabinets, cabling, power distribution, belongs to one tenant.
When does a company need a cage instead of a handful of cabinets?
Usually once you’re running enough cabinets that a shared hall stops making sense, or once compliance requires a physically separate access zone with its own badge or key control. Banking, healthcare, and government workloads land in cages more often than general enterprise IT, specifically because auditors want to see that boundary.
How many cabinets fit in a typical cage?
There’s no fixed number. Cages are sized to the deployment, from a handful of cabinets to a much larger footprint, and can expand within the same facility as capacity needs grow. That’s the advantage over a fixed-size product: you’re not boxed into a size that made sense two years ago.
Is a cage more secure than a cabinet?
It adds a real, physical layer on top of the building’s own access control. You get your own locked perimeter inside the facility, separate from other tenants, with access limited to your own badges. For workloads under strict audit requirements, that separate boundary is often the entire reason a customer upgrades from cabinets to a cage.
What’s the difference between a private cage and a private suite?
Mesh versus walls. A cage is a secured, open-mesh enclosure inside the shared hall. A suite is a hard-walled, fully enclosed room with its own entry point. Suites cost more and typically fit larger or longer-term deployments where full physical isolation matters more than the cost difference.
Are remote hands and cross connects included with a cage lease?
No. Cross connects, remote hands, and managed install are billed as add-ons, same as with cabinets. That keeps the base cage rate straightforward instead of bundling in services a customer may not need at that volume.
